Hunt safe. What are the Most Comfortable Hang On Treestands for Deer Hunting? ![]() It almost cost me a fall once from 20 ft up. Bumping the top can easily cause it to fall without your weight on it. With lighter stands I ALWAYS ratchet the top part in place once I reach my sitting position. I've also learned that those belt type straps are pretty quiet compared to tube style cable covers. I found them to do a great job and you can wrap them on the stand and not have to put them in your pocket while you are up the tree. You might also try bungee balls or tarp bugs to hold the stand together. That way you can tug on it and open them to slide your boots in and not have to bend over to do it. I suppest using a rope to hold the two stand pieces together and tying the lower part thru both bootstraps. Aldeer, where did you find that price? The cheapest I found was Sportsmans Guide at $143 if you are a member. Just yesterday I recommended this climber to a couple of members in another thread in this section. The things I would recommend if you do buy this climber is to upgrade the foot stirrups, upgrade the back pack straps, buy bunjee cords to secure the stand once settle in and toss the ones that come with itand last but not least make sure to climb a larger tree. All in all the climber is great for the price $135. That being said if you climb a large tree like I did yesterday it has plenty of room I'm 6'1" 215-220 for reference. The issue I ran into climbing an extremely small pine the arms on the upper swivel with the size of the tree so they were against my ribs. The nylon net seat is extremely comfortable just like my old ole'man so that wasn't an issue. Once up the tree i used the bunjee straps I bought to lock the stand in place instead of the straps it came with (they are aggervating to tighten and the metal clinging together isn't acceptable). I never once felt as if the climber was going to slide down the tree or slip in the least bit (on the way down i actually had issues with it sticking in the tree). It is a sit and climb stand which I prefer and keeps the fatigue down alot. The foot stirrups are Okay but not the greatest I'll definitely add some bungees to help keep my feet locked in(my feet slid out a few times during the climb and even more so coming down). One thing great about the backpack straps they also serve as the tethers tieing the upper and lower together. The one down side would be the padding on the straps which is basically non existent! Unpacking and attaching to the tree is easy and today it was fairly quiet being it was my second time putting the the climber up. The apache is light and fairly easy to carry long distances, which is the number one reason I bought the stand. Once together the stand packs down easily and flat with two pre-mounted bungee cords(I added two of my own just as a backup as well). I found looking at pictures online is the easiest thing to do when it comes to that. Okay first thing first the instructions are decent until you start trying to attach the backpack straps. I purchased the xstand apache a couple months ago and for the first time yesterday I actually tested it out,so I could give it a review for everyone. 117 registered members ( Booger, joeml18, CCC, Turkey Petter, TexasHuntress, jw706, AMB, JCL, YellaLineHunter, Beak_Buster, Geeb, bamaguzzi, HappyHunter, Frankie, lectrode, Ben Ward, SC53, Canterberry, flgator, DoeNut, gman, hue, COOTER, AU338MAG, Big Bore, Flyliner, Bandit635, level5, TurkeyJoe, Bustinbeards, hamma, hayman, CeeHawk37, Weedpicker, klay, Muzzy76, biglmbass, Big Buck Video, hallb, Hunting-231, JLMiller, wareagle22, BCLC, WTPop, 2walnuts, DuckDown11, BrandonClark, velvet tines, outdoorguy88, crenshawco, Gunner211, eclipse829, kyles, beeline08, StateLine, El_Matador, deadeye48, twaldrop4, NoHuntin, BCD, Skullworks, Ditchdigger, Frogeye, dave260rem!, brett.smith, Triple J, Jbf, Mansfield, Parker243, XVIII, Fishinspot, BPI, Herbie, jhardy, jaredhunts, !shiloh!, Tupi, AKB, fillmore, CatHeadBiscuit, Huntn2feed5, quailman, 7mmSTW, Ron A., Floorman1, Zbrann, Reaper, TreeBender, lckrn, Pwyse, sbo1971, Bruno, Livintohunt19, AC870, trlrdrdave, AU coonhunter, RareBreed, Buckshot77, Sgiles, having fun now, BobK, Red Fox, FreeStateHunter, JSlaya, TEM, Mulcher, Todd1700, Jmfire722, fish_blackbass, mule34, BradB, 6 invisible), ![]()
